FAQS

MASSAGE

  • Yes. My insurance and qualification certificates are available on request and are all on display in my massage studio so you can see who I am insured with and with who and in what I have trained.

  • After greeting you I will take you through to my massage studio and ensure you feel comfortable. We will go through your initial consultation form together and you can discuss any concerns, areas to be massaged or avoided and the level of pressure you would like. I will then leave you to get undressed. You should only undress to the level you are comfortable. If you wish to keep any clothing on I will work around this as best I can. However, for a full body massage and pregnancy massage it is common to remove all garments except briefs. You will then make yourself comfortable on the massage couch, covering yourself with the towels provided. Once you are ready I will come and adjust any towels for you if necessary and begin your treatment, only uncovering the part of your body being worked on. If at any time during the treatment you feel uncomfortable, cold or would like the pressure adjusted, please say. Once your treatment is complete I will leave the room so you can get dressed. When you are ready I will return and provide you with aftercare advice and will gratefully receive any feedback you may have.

  • Before your child's first massage you complete a consultation form on their behalf. Permission from your child’s GP must be obtained before massage can go ahead.

    We discuss your child's likes, dislikes, any anxiety triggers and ways to alleviate these, such as certain music, favourite toys, or picture schedules to explain what is happening.

    At the appointment, you are required to remain in the massage studio with your child for the duration of the treatment. Drinks and magazines included!

    Your child remains fully clothed and we work within your child's comfort zone, at their own pace. It may be a while before your child is comfortable with a full massage or even lying on the massage couch and that's ok; we all like familiarity and to feel safe and it is important that we provide this environment for our children.

    While using gentle techniques, many children also love deeper pressure squeezing, particularly on their arms and legs, which can be so comforting, (as Temple Grandin found with her squeeze machine).

    So, the massage and experience your child receives will be completely unique and tailored to them.

  • I most frequently use grapeseed oil as it is very light, not too greasy and high in vitamin E so very good for your skin. However, if you would prefer the use of a different massage medium, do let me know in your consultation form.

  • Yes. I offer 20% off your first treatment. With a loyalty card you then get 50% off your 6th, and your 11th treatment is free.

  • Yes. I have a bathroom attached to my massage studio for the sole use of my clients.

  • After your massage I will give you an aftercare leaflet. This details the following:

    To gain maximum benefit from your massage you should;

    • Drink plenty of water

    • Avoid alcohol and caffeine for the next 12 hours

    • Eat light meals only

    • Rest and practice deep breathing

    • Avoid strenuous exercise

    • Be mindful of driving if you feel drowsy or light-headed

    Due to the detoxifying process of massage you may experience the following within 24-48 hours after treatment;

    Nausea, headaches, more frequent urination, runny nose/cough, slight rash, deep sleep or sleep disruption

    These are temporary reactions showing your body is responding to treatment

POSTNATAL DOULA

  • Yes. I can show you my insurance and qualification certificates on request.

  • I am a recognised postnatal doula, registered with Doula UK and Find my Doula. This means that I have completed a mentoring process during which I was overseen by a recognised doula with many years’ experience. I have now met the requirements, in terms of hours and breadth of work, and so am no longer mentored.

  • It is vital that you feel comfortable and happy with the doula you choose to support you during such a pivotal time in your life. That’s why I like to have an initial face to face meeting with you, perhaps in your own home or at your local coffee shop, so we can properly chat and get to know each other. You can ask me questions and decide if I’d be the right fit for you and your family.

  • I provide text/whatsapp, email, phone support, within reason, during my time supporting you, and this is included in my fees.

    I can also provide virtual support via zoom instead of in-home support, charged at £25/hour.

  • I can provide support on an ad hoc basis if I am available. Maybe you’d like some support within the first week after having your baby for a few hours, and then perhaps a couple of weeks later. You do not have to purchase a postnatal package.
